This course requires a minimum of 12 hours of pre-course reading, case studies, and testing followed by three full days of on-site training. Practical sessions may include outdoor or on-board sailing vessels exercises depending on course location. The curriculum includes lab sessions in wound care, reduction and splinting, extrication, and injections.
Offshore Emergency Medicine certification is awarded by Maritime Medical Guides. This course is also approved for 36 hours of continuing education credit at the First Responder level by CAPCE. Whether you are spending time Racing or Cruising, our First Aid/CPR Fo Mariners will prepare you for your next adventure. Combining a highly experiential in-person training with our self-paced Maritime Medicine Online Course, this program provides all the skills practice and knowledge needed to handle the range of medical and traumatic emergencies at sea. this class is US Sailing accredited, meets World Sailing Offshore Special Regulation (OSR6.05) Medical Training Requirements, US Sailing Senior First Aid Requirements, is valid for US Coast Guard Merchant Marine Credentials and can be used to recertify a Wilderness First Responder certificate within its grace period.
