Today, the combination of boat speed and diminished maneuverability, has created a gap between traditional Man Overboard methods and modern performance sailing. In some situations, stopping a boat to rescue a person may be impossible. Because of this, the time has come to train and certify another specialty of sailors, it is the Sailing Rescue Swimmer.  ONLY in this program can sailors learn from the best offshore sailors in the world. This certification program provides procedures, and equipment needed to control the risk of sending another person in the water. It would be dangerous to address this gap without the collective knowledge of some of the foremost sailors in the world. So that is exactly what the Ministry of Sailing has done.
