Sailors become Sailing Rescue Swimmers Certified, adding more controls for rescuing people who are immobilized in the water or when seas/vessel performance characteristics may be prohibitive for utilizing traditional Crew Over-Board procedures.
Studies show that 90 percent of expired flares are disposed of using improper methods. We can bring our solution directly to your Marina, Regatta and Boat Show. Recently, MOS demonstrated this program in collaboration with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, and U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary at the Flying Point Park and Boat Ramps. Participants traveled from as far as 2.5 hours away where 230 flares were recovered. The earliest was 29 years past expiration and the latest expired the month before. The average age was 9.5 years passed expiration. For every boater that participated, Orion distress Signals provides and rebate for new products.
Offshore Emergency Medicine offers relevant and practical training for the largest and most remote wilderness on earth, The Oceans. As with all our courses, we emphasize the understanding of body systems and principles of care to best prepare the medical officer to improvise and adapt to the infinite variety of challenges that the open sea can present. It is designed for voyaging sailors as well as professional mariners. Classroom instruction is tied to the student’s own experience through the liberal use of case studies, scenarios, and hands-on assessment problems in a marine context. Recognized by both US SAILING and WORLD SAILING.

Our Flare Disposal Units travel to Marina’s, Boat Shows and Regatta’s providing Safety at Sea Certification and Flare education. We also collect expired flares, incinerate them on site mitigating the impact of fire and chemical exposure to humans and waterways.
